What is this?
Among all the beautiful fruitas in the mercado, there is one fruit that is, well, . . . ugly desafortunadamente. It looks like a cross between a potato and a cactus. I will buy one and try it someday. We have been so happy with the pineapples, cantaloupes, watermelons, oranges, and limes, that we just haven't been tempted by this particular fruit. We bought a papaya yesterday. I've never bought one before, here or at home. I really wanted to like it, but it's not my favorite. But, back to this unattractive fruit. If you know the name of it, please let us know. Gracias!

Wow - that's one ugly fruit. I wonder if it's a guanabana (gwa-NA-bah-nah). We had some juice of this fruit in Costa Rica and I have a vague memory that we were told it was really ugly. The juice was that light green color and tasted a little bit like a pear.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with that!
I think I will pass on the prickly thingies. They may be an acquired taste. Same with papaya's.
