A day's work
It is Saturday, and we have been in Antigua for one week. While this place is so different from home, it is very similar to every place we have traveled. The colorful concrete houses remind us of the Bahamas. The hole-in-the-wall restaurants remind us of southern China. The outdoor markets remind us of Jerusalem and China. Women carrying loaded baskets on their heads remind us of Ethiopia. And people are the same wherever we go. They organize their work and their spaces in ways that suit their conditions. Here in our casa, Buzz works on his computer every day, creating lessons for the on-line classes he teaches. Christana and her daughter, Chusita, work at the casa every day except Sunday. This morning Christana picked coffee from the trees in the backyard. Chusita mopped the floors in the entire casa and did some house laundry. They do not work for us, only for the casa owners, Rene and Elsie. It is all a day's work in Antigua.

I wish I was there also! Sounds like you are in heaven, or close to it... Could the bird you are hearing be a catbird???I know they mimic alot of things.
ReplyDeleteHey! Everything is going great in your casa here in the Frigid Midwest. I know you miss it.... The trash bins are empty, both of the cars start and I'm just waiting on the mail. I thought it would come today but perhaps tomorrow. I got your very cute voicemail yesterday! Feel free to call anytime! Enjoy yourselves.....
