Flora and fauna in the back yard
Every morning we have a simple breakfast and good coffee on the back patio. Over the patio is a trellis covered with vines. As we look into the back yard, we see coffee plants loaded with red coffee berries, ready to be picked. Flowering red and purple bougainvillea line the perimeter of the yard. Fern fronds measure about 7 feet long and 4 feet across. Orchids cover the trunks of the trees, none blooming, but all looking promising. Really BIG hummingbirds feed at the red feeders constantly. Their wings hum loudly, like little Evinrude motors. The squirrels don't sound like Minnesota squirrels; they sound like squeaky toys, a dog's dream come true. All rooms of the casa open out to the patio and the open courtyard. If there weren't doors on the rooms, there would be nothing to keep the critters out. So far, the hummingbirds have been camera shy, but the coffee beans are happy to be included in our blog. Enjoy!

I'm so glad you made it there safely!! First of all, Casa del Flan sounds amazing. And warm tortillas?? Yum, wish I was there. Also, bouganvaillas(wow, hard to spell) are my favorite flower. I'm glad you are getting the transportation figured out... Make sure to get a tan for me :)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! You have COFFEE in your back yard! Could anything be cooler? Sasha says she wants to get her teeth on the squeaky-toy squirrels.
ReplyDeleteOn an unrelated note - the onion goggles rock. They work like a charm and look quite stylish (although Jim laughs at me when I have them on).
Let me know if you guys get Skype working. Jim got ours up and running this weekend.
